(USA) The Department of Interior Design was created in 1938, and is now one of 13 departments in the School of the Arts. There are approximately 140 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the department. They participate in national design competitions and professional internships in interior design and architectural firms and have access to scholarships and financial aid. Regional, national, and international design field trips to cities including Chicago, New York, and London are made available to students throughout the academic year. The department has student chapters of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and Illuminating Engineering Society (IES).
