Michigan-based Art Van Furniture expanded into the Chicago area in July with the opening of a new store in Orland Park, Ill.
"We are thrilled to be part of the Chicago market and offer unprecedented quality, value, and customer service," Art Van Elslander, founder and chairman of the Warren, Mich.-based chain said in a release.
The store adds about 100 sales, delivery and management jobs, the company said. Five more stores are planned over the next few months in Ford City-Chicago; Batavia, Ill.; Bolingbrook, Ill.; Elston Avenue-Chicago; and Merrillville-Hobart, bringing 600 jobs to the area.
Earlier in July, the company cut the ribbon on its new 183,000-sq.-ft. distribution center in Bolingbrook, Ill., which serves the new market and employs 48 people.
Art Van also opened its first full-line store in the greater Toledo, Ohio, market on Sept. 7. The 90,000-sq.-ft. store on East Mall Drive in Springfield Township was built from the ground up and features an updated look for the company, including higher ceilings, more natural light and the incorporation of brick, stone, wood and other contemporary materials for a fresh, modern look.
The company said several additional bedding stores are planned for the greater Toledo region.
