What's new and divine in design
Bridging the gap between traditional craft and modern design, Black Pepper Dessin boasts exquisite handmade offerings that provide work to local female artisans in India. The beaded linen Masai Art pillow pays tribute to the traditional ornamental beadwork fashioned by the women of the Masai tribe.
Karen Robertson has introduced the Shellatier Collection, a collection of stunning handcrafted succulents and flowers created from shells. Made in the United States, each artisancrafted design is an original work of art made from shells such as coquina, tusk and heart, as well as barnacles.
Sheherazade Home, a New York-based wholesaler and retailer, presents its latest lineup of furniture, lighting and home accessories sourced from Morocco, the Middle East and India. Among the exotic finds is this handcrafted lounge armchair, patterned in a vibrant vintage ikat.
Inspired by the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Edouard Daunas of Martin Patrick Evan debuted the Raw Nature rug collection. "I was attracted to the movement in design created through a static medium with the use of the various materials," said Daunas. "We referenced some of the designs in a variety of our refined qualities including a cut-pile silk and wool blend that gives just enough shimmer and movement."
