NYIGF At Home textiles awards go to Sferra, others

Five companies participating in the Home Textiles Market Week portion of the New York International Gift Fair have been presented with Best New Product Awards, and among them was luxury linens company Sferra, which earned the "Best of Market" award for its Marmi Italian printed silk throw.
In addition to the overall "Best of Market" distinction, Best New Product Awards are presented semi-annually in four categories: bed, bath, dining and home accessories. A panel of editors selects the winners and finalists.
Aside from Sferra, the other winners and finalists of the winter 2013 Home Textiles Market Week Best New Product Award, selected from more than 100 products, include:
Winner: LuRu Home for its Sleeve Pillow, made from long rolls of hand-woven, indigo-dyed cotton embroidered with bands of pattern and alternating white lines. The white lines demarcate portions that can be cut and formed into cuffs for traditional Chinese jackets.
Finalist: Pom Pom at Home for it Caprice shower curtain.
Finalist: Blissliving Home for its Daliya duvet set.
Winner: Matouk for its Abstractions, a line of abstract graphic-printed beach towels, made from 100% cotton velour and available in five bright colors.
Finalist: Peacock Alley for Astoria Towels.
Finalist: Turkish-T for its Super Soft Spa Hamam bathrobe and slippers.
Winner: Anali Exquisite Needlework for its Chevron placemat and napkin, a set of European table linens embroidered in brilliant color combinations -- emerald and sapphire, poppy and mahogany, and linen and taupe.
Finalist: Cococozy for its Lucite Tray.
Finalist: Busatti for its Americana Lucrezia placemat.
Home Accessories category
Winner: Alicia Adams Alpaca for its Vicuña throw, a dark wheat-colored throw made from the very soft vicuña "fiber of the gods," once used exclusively by members of the royal family during the age of the Incas.
Finalist: John Mahoney Designs Inc. for its Hand-Printed Pillow Covers.
Finalist: Green Living Organics - gloCQ for its Cable Knit Throw.
"These winners were clear stand outs in terms of design creativity and innovation," said Danielle Giacopenello, sales manager for At Home featuring Home Textiles. "These companies set a new standard of excellence in home textiles design."
The panel of judges included Tracy Bulla of Home Accents Today and Jennifer Marks of Home Textiles Today;as well as other trade magazine editors.
