Judges for 24th Annual ARTS Awards announced

DALLAS - Dallas Market Center and ART, a creative home furnishings network, announced the judges for the 24th Annual ARTS Awards.
The ARTS Awards gala is held each January during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market. The 24th Annual ARTS Awards gala will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel.
Twenty-five categories exist under the headings Manufacturer, Retailer, Product Designer, Sales Representative, Rising Star, Green, Academy of Achievement and Visionary. Anyone in the industry can nominate including manufacturers, retailers, sales representatives, designers, suppliers, consultants and other industry officials. Academy of Achievement and Visionary honorees are selected by an ARTS Awards committee each year. Companies that have won an ARTS Award five times are inducted into the Hall of Fame and include: BJ's Home Accents, C.S. Wo & Sons, Distinctive Designs International Inc., Feizy Rugs, Fine Art Lamps, Global Views, Montaage, Natural Decorations Inc., Palecek, Paragon, Robb & Stucky and Schonbek Worldwide Lighting.
This year's judges, who will select winners in 23 different categories, include the following:
Melanie Belew - Belew is returning as a judge for the second year in a row. She has more than 20 years of experience in both residential and commercial design, and has created a broad spectrum of interiors ranging from classical to contemporary. Since working as a designer in Gabbert's design studio, Belew has been self-employed and practicing interior design for the last 10 years for Belew Design Studio. She attended the University of North Texas, and is licensed with the state of Texas as an interior designer.
Cheryl Holland-Bridges - Holland-Bridges is director of the Center for Retailing Studies and executive professor of marketing at Texas A&M's May Business School. She received the Texas A&M University Distinguished Achievement Award for Teaching in 2012. Holland-Bridges has spent more than 25 years as a senior executive in the retailing industry. Throughout her career, she was commended for her expertise in creative merchandising and product development and training of future executives. She was named Distinguished Alumnae of Texas Women's University in 1987.
Jena Hall - Hall, president and CEO of Jena Hall Associates, consults and designs for HGTV Home Furniture and other clients. Many major home furnishings brands have benefited from Hall's diversified knowledge and expertise in the fields of consumer product design, merchandising and marketing. Her achievements span more than three decades and include induction as a fellow in the Furniture Hall of Fame.
Susan Inglis - Inglis will continue as the judge of the Green Award which recognizes excellence in sustainable manufacturing practices and standards. She has more than 20 years of experience as a producer, importer, sourcing agent and broker in the home furnishings, fashion and gift industries. She has worked in 19 countries on five continents providing services ranging from identifying procedures for ensuring the sustainability of a natural resource base to market-led product development.
Leslie Newsom Rascoe - Rascoe helped launch VERANDA in 1987 with VERANDA's founder, Lisa Newsom. For 25 years she has held various editorial positions including fine arts editor, and decoration and design editor. Rascoe has an extensive background in art with degrees from Colgate University and University of Georgia. She completed the Sotheby's Decorative Art Education program in London as well as postgraduate study of art and design in Europe and Southeast Asia.
Ignaz M. Gorischek - Gorischek is vice president of store development at Neiman Marcus where his role entails store planning, store design, visual planning and a corporate design studio. He has many years of experience with creative merchandising, visual styling, managing and directing in multiple areas of the country and for a number of retail stores such as Burdines and a specialty jeweler. He's been with Neiman Marcus for more than 20 years practicing his creativity and leadership skills focusing on high-end business.
