Alan Steel named President and CEO of New York's Javits Center

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Alan Steel, former president of GLM, has been has been named president and CEO of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, reports Trade Show News Network.
Steel, a 30-year veteran of the trade show industry with GLM, replaces Gerald T. McQueen, who resigned the post in October 2011 after 14 years. McQueen has remained in place until a successor was named.
"I'm excited to have the opportunity to work with the various constituencies which interact with the Javits Center," Steel told TSNN. "It's obviously an interesting time here. My primary goals will be to make a real difference to the customer experience and to address issues and opportunities related to recent announcements concerning the building's future."
Steel is well acquainted with the Javits Center and the complexities of trade show business, having overseen the strategic planning and direction of the GLM-produced trade shows, including the New York International Gift Fair, The National Stationery Show and SURTEX, during his tenure with the company.
