ASID Foundation seeks applications for five awards and scholarships

The American Society of Interior Designers Foundation (ASID Foundation) is inviting interior design students and professionals to apply for five awards and scholarships totaling $23,000 before the April 15, 2013, application deadline.

Open to both ASID members and nonmembers, the awards and scholarships range from monetary awards for contributions to the profession, to scholarships for all levels of students.

Philip Gill, Allied ASID, the winner of the last year's inaugural David Barrett Memorial Scholarship, said he would encourage members of the design community to apply. "This award has not only helped me complete my master's of interior architecture studies, but it has validated my work and study of traditional and classical interior design and furniture," he said. "It has helped elevate my level of expertise in my field and allowed me to pursue my passion in this design specialty."

Awards and scholarships programs, which have no application fee, have been a part of the ASID Foundation since its founding in 1975. The available scholarships and awards include:

The Irene Winifred Eno Grant provides financial assistance to individuals or groups engaged in the creation of an educational program or an interior design research project dedicated to health, safety and welfare.

The Joel Polsky Academic Achievement Award honors an outstanding undergraduate or graduate student's interior design research or thesis project.

The Joel Polsky Prize recognizes outstanding academic contributions to the discipline of interior design through literature or visual communication.

Legacy Scholarship for Undergraduates recognizes a creatively outstanding student as demonstrated through their portfolio in their junior or senior year of undergraduate study.

Legacy Scholarship for Graduate Students recognizes the achievements of a student who is an enrolled or accepted student in a graduate-level, degree-granting interior design program.
