Colorful, playful and eclectic, with lots of layering and texture, the new brand features more than 225 new items and 120 new designs across 25 different product categories. The brand is a partnership between Porter and her husband John, president and managing director. All the products are exclusive designs handcrafted and hand-printed in the couple's California studio.
"This latest endeavor draws on our 20 years of experience in making inspired, artisanal creations that delight the eye," said Tracy Porter, founder and creative director. "In addition, the Poetic Wanderlust brand represents a fresh beginning, reflecting exciting new production techniques that we have developed and unique ideas inspired by our travels and the natural beauty of living in the southern California countryside."
Porter said the name Poetic Wanderlust captures the soulful spirit of her new designs. "Through our creations, we want to inspire people to be gutsy and courageous and live life to its fullest," she said. "My motto has always been: ‘Love nature, live lightly, to thine own self be true.' "
Former models from Chicago, the Porters started their housewares business in early 1991 in an unheated chicken coop behind their Wisconsin farmhouse. Initially known as Stonehouse Farm Goods, the small company sold colorful, hand-painted furniture and home accessories through high-end boutiques and department stores. By the end of the 1990s, Porter decided to leave the manufacturing side to others, and Stonehouse Farm Goods morphed into Tracy Porter Inc., a design and licensing company known for a wide range of home furnishings as well as apparel, shoes and handbags. Today, the Tracy Porter name can be found on a variety of dinnerware, specialty items and gifts, and textiles, including Feizy rugs.
Over the years, Porter also has shared her views on interior design through national magazines and television programs, appearing several times on The Oprah Winfrey Show and most recently on an HGTV holiday special. She is an active blogger about design, family (the couple has four sons under the age of 12) and country living, with a popular site at blog.tracyporter.com.
"We have a very loyal following stretching back 20 years," said Porter about her ongoing conversations with consumers. "We are a complete lifestyle company and part of our mission is sharing our life journey with customers - the challenges and victories that come with raising kids, building a business and contributing to a community."
The new brand's website is located at http://www.poeticwanderlust.com. In the coming weeks, Poetic Wanderlust is unveiling a new to-the-trade website for wholesale customers. And the brand also has a Pinterest presence at pinterest.com/poeticwander/.
Poetic Wanderlust will exhibit the upcoming New York International Gift Fair in the Javits Center, booth 8079 (in the At Home showroom).
In Western markets, Poetic Wanderlust is represented by the Homestyle sales organization.
