Bon-Ton appoints three execs

YORK, Pa. — The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. has appointed three executives to help with the consolidation and integration of the Elder-Beerman and Bon-Ton companies.
James Lance was named senior vice president, chief information officer, reporting to James Baireuther, vice chairman and chief administrative officer. The change was effective November 2003. Prior to joining the company, Lance was senior vice president, chief information officer, for The Elder-Beerman Stores Corp. of Dayton, Ohio. He was with Elder-Beerman for 33 years and served in a number of development and management roles before being named senior vice president, chief information officer, in 1987.
Joseph Culver was promoted to senior vice president of human resources, reporting to Bud Bergren, Bon-Ton's vice chairman. Prior to the promotion, Culver was vice president, human resources, at The Bon-Ton. Prior to joining The Bon-Ton in 1994 as vice president of employment, Culver was with Woodward & Lathrup for 14 years, where his last position was as senior vice president of personnel and services.
Deborah Rivera was promoted to senior vice president, general merchandise manager of The Bon-Ton's Ready to Wear Division, reporting to Frank Tworecke, president and chief operating officer. Prior to the promotion, Rivera was vice president of ready to wear, from 2003 to 2004 and, for more than five years prior, she was divisional vice president, divisional merchandise manager of the juniors division. Rivera started her merchandise career with Gimbel's.
