Style List

We've compiled a list of common styles to assist you in completing the style niche section of the form. Use as many of the terms below as you need to fully describe your company's product line.

Arts & Crafts - often called mission style furniture, emphasized craftsmanship, good proportions, rich colors, and enhanced wood grains to achieve a decorative effect.
Mission - handcrafted wood designs with simple, clean lines, darker finishes and minimal ornamentation, see Arts & Crafts.

Asian - designs featuring influences from China, Japan or other parts of Asia, key features include lacquered finishes and rich colors, such as red.

Casual Contemporary - up-to-date looks with relaxed styling, can be transitional in nature.

Cottage - cozy designs marked by such details as white wash finishes, pastel colors and floral motifs.

Country - featuring distressed woods, homespun touches and a rural feel.

Exotic - offering touches of Indian, Persian, Turkish or Moroccan styling, including inlaid details, beading and other heavy ornamentation.

French Country - style credited to rural France, strong focus on bold shades of yellow, blue and red, relaxed styling.

Italian/Mediterranean - featuring European rustic influences, like distressed finishes and warm colors such as rusts, golds and blues.

Lodge - Western influenced style heavy on natural motifs such as forest animals, pine trees and outdoor activities.

Southwest - centered on styles originating in the American Southwest that focus on Native American and Mexican designs with warm colors and geometric-like patterns.

Modern - minimalistic designs, sleekly styled and with a minimal amount of adornment, often linked to Mid-Century Modern.

Nautical/Coastal - looks with boat or beach themes, ranging from New England lighthouses to whimsical beach motifs.

Old World Classics - traditional styles based on classic European looks, generally formal and somewhat heavily ornamented.

Scandinavian - based on the Gustavian style, this trend features pale, light, faded hues and furniture with a restrained Rococo style and modest embellishments.

Tropical - influenced by warm weather climates, centers on palm leaf motifs, bright colors and natural fibers like bamboo and rattan.

Safari - supplied with hints of Africa from exotic animal skins to jungle imagery, with hints of bold colors.

Vintage - antique styling with touches reminiscent of family heirlooms.

Retro - focuses on whimsical styles reminiscent of bygone eras, specifically the mid 20th century.
