Luxury home decor brand, Michael Aram Inc., has appointed Samuel Shaffer its new chief executive officer. Shaffer replaces Sebastian Herald, who recently stepped down to pursue other opportunities.
"We are thrilled to have Samuel Shaffer join Michael Aram Inc. in this vital role and shape the evolution of the brand," said Michael Aram, founder and designer, Michael Aram Inc. "With Sam in his new leadership position, I am confident of further success and for what I anticipate will be an exciting new era for the company."
Shaffer brings a high level of varied marketing and leadership experience to the company, as well as a deep passion for quality driven design, according to a company statement. His background is in both large scale marketing and boutique, designer-owned brands. Shaffer spent 20 years in consumer marketing at companies like Bain, Coach, and Black and Decker. Shaffer joined Knoll Inc. as a marketing director, but following the successful IPO of Knoll, he shifted his career path to helping smaller, design-driven brands, and instead, focused on companies that inspired him aesthetically.
Prior to joining Michael Aram Inc., Sam was vice president, sales and marketing of the Bright Group and senior vice president at Edward Ferrel and Lewis Mittman, manufacturers and distributors of luxury designer furniture. Shaffer also served as the vice president of marketing and sales at Liora Manne, Inc., a rug and fabric manufacturer. He received his B.A. in Architecture from Yale, and M.B.A. from Harvard University.
"I am continually impressed by Michael Aram's unique craftsmanship and sensibility and have always considered Michael a design visionary," said Shaffer. "I am excited to lead a company that I hold in such high regard and confident that this partnership will lead to great milestones for the brand."
