WASHINGTON, D.C. - The American Society of Interior Designers hosted its national conference in June, in conjunction with trade conference Dwell on Design in Los Angeles.
The conference drew more than 1,000 ASID members, including 350 chapter leaders and board members for three days of lectures, classes and tours, including:
• ASID-sponsored educational tracks including the REGREEN seminar, and education sessions on topics ranging from finance and new business models, to evidence-based residential design and universal design. The first-ever GO PRO/LA event - an immersive two-day event exclusively tailored to emerging design professionals, with more than 60 rising designers in attendance.
• The annual Celebration - The ASID Design Awards event, which drew more than 400 guests to the historic Millennium Biltmore hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The red carpet gala was hosted by Emmy Award-winning television host Mark Brunetz and honored the recipients of the 2013 ASID Design Awards and the 2013 ASID Class of Fellows, among others, with a night of Roaring 20s-themed festivities.
• Celebration also included a silent auction that raised $30,000 for the ASID Foundation's partnership with The 1% program of Public Architecture, an organization that connects nonprofits seeking design assistance with designers willing to donate one percent of their time on a pro bono basis.
The ASID Conference at Dwell on Design was sponsored by industry partners Baker Furniture, Bellacor Pro, Bentley, Big Ass Fans, Eco by Cosentino, Designer Marketplace (Williams-Sonoma), Devine Color, Hansgrohe, International Design Guild, LeGrand, Sherwin Williams, Teknion, The Insurance Exchange, The Vinyl Institute and Walker Zanger.
