New York - Alessi's Soho flagship store, a longstanding landmark on design-heavy Greene Street, reopened in May following a two-month renovation.
Designed by Hani Rashid and Asymptote Studio, the shop features a futuristic appeal with long, sweeping countertops, back-lit cabinetry and built-in shelving. Rashid also designed the Alessi store's previous iteration.

"Hani had collaborated with Alessi before," said Paolo Cravedi, Alessi USA's managing director. "Some of his projects became Alessi products that are included in our catalogs. This fact and his experience and vision made him the logical choice to create a retail space representative of our brand and at the same time appealing to the demanding New York audience."
Cravedi said active planning for the renovations began about a year ago, born from the need to repair the store's normal wear and tear and the desire to offer a more open ambience for customers.
The new design includes fewer dividing walls, lower furniture elements and more shelf space. It also features a larger sales counter located closer to the store entrance.
The store is located at 130 Greene St.
