Artist Stefano Arienti created a colorful art installation called “Algae” for Italian lighting brand Foscarini’s new SoHo store.
New York - Italian lighting brand Foscarini has opened a store in New York's SoHo neighborhood, its first stand-alone showroom outside of Italy.
In addition to showcasing its lighting in the 3,500-sq.-ft. space, the brand will explore art, culture and design through different installations and artistic pieces.
To start, artist Stefano Arienti has created an art installation titled "Algae," which involves an immersive arrangement of colorful plastic.
The store is located at 17 Greene St.
Vietri Boutique at Belk opens in Charlotte
Charlotte, N.C. - Vietri cut the ribbon on its second Vietri Boutique at Belk on June 27, in its new space on the first floor of Belk in SouthPark Mall in Charlotte, N.C.
The ceremony was attended by one of Vietri's founders, Frances Gravely, along with other Vietri and Belk corporate representatives.
The boutique will showcase the largest selection of Vietri in the area, including tabletop collections, garden, home and wall décor, according to a release.
"We began our partnership with Belk over a decade ago. As Vietri is based in Hillsborough, N.C., we are pleased to have such a longstanding relationship with another North Carolina-based company, and such a reputable one at that," said Vietri founder and CEO Susan Gravely. "Our first Vietri Boutique at Belk opened at the Crabtree Valley Belk in Raleigh last year to rave reviews, and it continues to be a huge success.
"We are really excited to grow this concept right in Belk's hometown of Charlotte. By the end of 2013, we will have three Vietri boutiques in the top Belk locations in the country. Belk is still one of the very best in our industry after 125 years in business, and we are proud to call them our partner."
E-commerce site Ella B Design launches
Atlanta - Ella B Design, a new e-commerce site, launched in July at ellabdesign.com. The founders of Ella B emphasize "the role of artful design in the creation of warm, welcoming and fully personalized living spaces," according to a press release.
Ella B specializes in original, creative items across a wide range of home furnishings categories, including ceramics, containers, glass, candle accessories and wall decor.
A separate category called "Gotta Have It" features hand-picked items selected by the store's buyers. "Gotta Have It" listings are frequently updated as new inventory enters the storefront. Generally, new products will be listed every two or three weeks, the release states.
Martinez, Ga. - Carolina Pottery opened a new 65,000-sq.-ft. store in June in the West Town Shopping Center at 3830 Washington Road. According to The Augusta (Ga.) Chronicle, the home décor and furniture store has three other locations in the Southeast.
San Diego - Urban Outfitters is opening an 11,287-sq.-ft. store this summer at the Fashion Valley Mall here. The store will carry home décor, gifts, apparel, accessories and footwear. Urban Outfitters' home accents offerings include accent furniture, rugs, lighting, wall décor, soft goods and decorative accessories.
Bellevue, Ohio - Farmhouse Primitives is opening here this month at 400 Fairfield Ave. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the store will carry new and vintage farmhouse-style home décor and specialty products, and will feature a Made in America theme.
Nashville, Tenn. - Cadeau Nashville will open a new store in September in the 12South neighborhood, according to the Nashville Business Journal. Located at 2310 12th Ave. South, the store will carry new and refurbished accent furniture, soft goods and accessories.
Houston - Debbie Smith opened a new boutique, Caught My Fancy in the River Oaks Shopping Center at 2015-B W. Gray St. here after a decade in southern California. The shop carries furniture, decorative accessories, soft goods, lighting, wall décor, garden décor, jewelry, candles and gifts.
New York - Roche Bobois opened a new store here at 207 E. 57th St. According to The Editor at Large, the company opened its flagship American showroom in New York about 40 years ago on Madison Avenue. Roche Bobois carries furniture, lighting, rugs, soft goods and decorative accessories.
