Lord & Taylor to open first new store in over a decade

Lord & Taylor announced plans to open a full-priced store in Yonkers, N.Y., the chain's first new store in a decade. Lord & Taylor
Crain's New York writer Adrianne Pasquarelli reported the 48-unit chain will open an 80,000-sq.-ft., bi-level store in 2012 as part of the Ridge Hill outdoor shopping center currently under construction by Forest City Enterprises.
The last store the 184-year-old department store opened was in the Landmark Mall in Alexandria, Va., in 2001.
The company, owned by Hudson's Bay Trading Co., also recently renovated its Fifth Avenue flagship, adding new departments including home furnishings.
