New York - Mud Australia opened its first U.S. store in Soho at 91 Crosby St., with a grand opening celebration Sept. 5. The store specializes in tabletop décor and dinnerware.
New York - George Smith Design Warehouse opened in September at 315 Hudson St. The store held a grand opening sale Sept. 29-Oct. 6 with discounts of up to 60% off on its inventory, which includes accent furniture, mirrors and wall art.
New York - C. Wonder held a grand opening celebration Sept. 22-23 for its new store here, located at 10 Columbus Circle. The grand opening weekend included a host of activities, such as gift cards with mystery prizes for the first 300 customers, a "Wheel of Wonder" offering chances to win products and VIP perks, live music, carnival games and food. C. Wonder's home décor offerings include tabletop décor, decorative accents, pillows and throws.
Lexington, Mass. - Interior designer Robin Gannon opened Haven on Oct. 4 in Lexington Center at 1646 Massachusetts Ave. The home furnishings store's website, which is still under construction, describes Haven as a "new hip lifestyle home-store."
Winston-Salem, N.C. - Michael Bay, owner of Merino's Home Furnishings, has purchased the Weeks plant in northwest Winston-Salem from Hanesbrands Inc. and will turn the facility into his fourth Southeast showroom and warehouse in 2013. According to the Winston-Salem Journal, the 850,000-sq.-ft. facility will carry brand-name furnishings, rugs and accessories. Bay has also converted old plants to showrooms and warehouses in Mooresville, N.C., Fort Lawn, S.C. and Jefferson, Ga.
Augusta, Ga. - Sherry Elijah opened Westobou River Trading Co. in September at 827 Stevens Creek Road. According to the Augusta Chronicle, the store will carry rustic home décor, lamps, wall fixtures and candles, as well as offer interior decorating services.
Westport, Conn. - Jonathan Adler will open its second Connecticut store in October at 166 Main St. The store will carry pottery, home décor and gifts, according to the Westport Daily Voice.
Huntsville, Ala. - Homegoods opened a new 25,000-sq.-ft. store here in September, located in University Plaza at University Drive and Old Monrovia Road. The store carries discount furniture, rugs, lamps, bedding, wall décor and decorative accessories.
Louisville, Ky. - Anthropologie opened its first Kentucky store here in September at Oxmoor Center, located at 7900 Shelbyville Road. The 6,500-sq.-ft. store's home décor offerings include furniture, bedding, rugs, lighting, wall décor, throws and pillows.
Winnipeg, Manitoba - Ikea will open a new 395,671-sq.-ft. store here Nov. 28 at Kenaston Boulevard and Sterling Lyon Parkway. The grand opening celebration will include entertainment and giveaways. In addition to showcasing Ikea's home products, the store will feature a 650-seat restaurant and 2,228-sq.-ft. play area for children.
Ashburn, Va. - Lila Home Designs celebrated its grand opening Sept. 29 at 20916 Stubble Road. A grand opening event included refreshments and "on-the-hour" giveaways. Lila Home carries home accessories including wall décor, pillows and accessories.
