Alexandria, Va. - Acme Mid-Century + Modern opened a new store in July at 218 N. Lee St. here. According to the store's website, Acme Mid-Century + Modern is "a purveyor of furniture, art, accessories and artifacts from the mid-century through the modern periods."
Flushing, Mich. - Two Birds, a home furnishings store and interior design studio, opened in August at 1551 E. Pierson Road in Hidden Paradise Plaza. The 3,000-sq.-ft. store carries furniture, rugs, lighting, wall art, tabletop and decorative accessories.
Sunrise, Fla. - Frette is opening a new store this month at the Sawgrass Mills mall, located at 12801 W. Sunrise Blvd. The retailer specializes in luxury linens including top-of-bed, decorative pillows and throws, and also carries tabletop and candles.
Scottsdale, Ariz. - Living Spaces opened its first store outside of California here in August at 16275 N. Scottsdale Road at the Promenade shopping center. The 130,000-sq.-ft. store features furniture, rugs and pillows.
Chicago - Z Gallerie opened a new location here in August in The Shops at Roosevelt Collection, located at 1023 South Delano Court. The store carries accent furniture, lighting, rugs, soft goods, wall décor, tabletop, decorative accessories and gifts.
Augusta, Ga. - Anna's Linens opened a 12,000-sq.-ft. store in August at 3412 Wrightsboro Road in the August Square shopping center. The retailer carries top-of-bed, pillows, throws, wall art, rugs, tabletop and bath accessories. According to The Augusta Chronicle, Anna's Linens plans to open 11 U.S. stores this year.
Topeka, Kan. - The Furniture Mall of Kansas opened in August at West Ridge Mall here. According to local television news station WIBW, the store features five separate furniture stores - Discovery Furniture, Marlings, Roommakers, Mattress Headquarters and Abbey Flooring Headquarters - operating under one name. The Furniture Mall of Kansas occupies two floors that previously housed Macy's, and carries a host of furniture, bedding, flooring and home accessories.
Charlotte, N.C. - Fiore Boutique opened in August at Southpark Mall here, at 4400 Sharon Road. The 1,695-sq.-ft. store carries jewelry, clothing and home décor, including wall art, tabletop and decorative accessories.
Sacramento, Calif. - Home décor store Forgotten Furnishings, From Antique to Chic opened in August at 1615 Del Paso Blvd. in the Del Paso Design District. According to the Sacramento Business Journal, the store specializes in mid-century modern furniture, antiques, art and "upcycled and repurposed pieces."
Moore, Okla. - Furniture and home décor store Hemispheres opened in August at 640 SW 19th St. The store specializes in upscale furniture and accessories, including accent furniture, wall décor, lighting and rugs. Hemispheres carries a variety of notable brands including Aico, Hooker, Stein World, Loloi and Uttermost.
Knoxville, Tenn. - Anthropologie opened a new 10,500-sq.-ft. store here in August at 5406 Kingston Pike. The lifestyle store's home décor offerings include accent furniture, rugs, lighting, soft goods, tabletop, wall décor and decorative accessories.
West Palm Beach, Fla. - Ashley Furniture Homestore opened a 35,000-sq.-ft. location in August at 2101 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. The new store is the third in a five-store regional expansion now under way by City Furniture, which is Ashley Furniture Homestore's licensee in southeast and southwest Florida.
It adjoins the existing City Furniture store at 2121 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd., with a walkthrough, and was built by Miller Construction Company to achieve LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Coral Springs, Fla. - Interior designer Perla Lichi opened a new showroom and headquarters in August at 7381 West Sample Road.
"We are so excited to debut the U.S. headquarters in South Florida where the Perla Lichi brand was born," Lichi said. "We offer a unique design style complete with manufacturing and resources to import custom-made furniture at an affordable price. Our international design team caters to many styles from modern to classic."
Washington, Mo. - Angie Pritchard opened The Painted Home in July at 219 Main St. here. According to The Missourian, the 2,100-sq.-ft. store carries new, vintage and refurbished home décor and offers interior design services.
