Industrial Revolution

Spring Market Sketchbook

Tracy Bulla -- Home Accents Today, 4/1/2010 12:00:00 AM

Vintage becomes modern in an amalgamation of industrial-inspired offerings, complete with accents of Steampunk. Old designs find new life with a fresh, relevant perspective, incorporating elemental, simple materials like iron, concrete, wood and glass. Streamlined and stripped-down, the pure essence of minimalism converts found objects into modernist must-haves.

ALL PRICES ARE SUGGESTED RETAIL.

Finished in brushed chrome, the adjustable tripod lamp marries retro design with sleek, simplistic styling from Payne Street and The Breece Collection.
From Home Trends & Design, the Industrial Loft Storage locker showcases classic vintage styling and functionality with 20 storage compartments ($1,499).
Currey & Company's deceptively simple concrete column effects a dramatic presence in the Megalith lamp, finished in polished concrete and aged steel with a linen shade ($380).
Jamie Young debuts the Americana Crank table, a Steampunk-influenced design with adjustable height mechanism ($1,400).
Finished with an abrash effect for a vintage feel, Momeni's hand-knotted design blends soft, earthy shades with subtle patterning inspired by the tile work of Seville.
Classic patterns, like ticking and stripes, hark back to a simpler era in complementary neutral pillows from Dransfield & Ross.
Amber blown glass borrows from the early 20th century factory with the stripped-down Genie lamp from Cisco Brothers, also available in Clear, Emerald, Sky Turquoise and Violet ($855).
Reminiscent of driftwood, Sitcom's distinctively shaped clock offers a versatile, organic design enhanced by natural wood grain ($170).
Architect Bobby McAlpine adapts an antique crate design as the Museum Crate side table for Macrae, available in varied sizes for a console, cocktail table and more.
Mounted on adjustable iron stands, the Vintage Bicycle seats from Studio A by Austin turn original artifacts into modern-day sculpture ($125).
