AF Lighting adds lamps by designer Catherine Smoak

AF Lighting introduces its new Horizon Series which includes six table lamps designed by Catherine Smoak. A cocktail party celebrating the debut will be held in the company’s space Monday, Feb. 1, in the company’s showroom, WMC A-406.
Smoak said she found inspiration in a wide range of natural and man-made elements, bringing each design to life in a variety of materials including black crystal, antique papers and metals.
Smoak’s modern Checkmate lamp displays an oversized Knight chess piece in hand-carved black crystal standing on a polished chrome platform and topped with a chrome finial. Her Congo lamp is inspired by antique maps, stamps and decorative paintings. It uses an alligator paper print over actual antique stamps from the Congo, a chocolate shade and carved elephant finial to finish the design.
“As a designer with lamp and decorative accessory product development, sourcing, and merchandising experience, Catherine is an ideal partner for AF Lighting,” said Karen Fallon, national business development manager. “Catherine created a collection of designer lighting for our new ‘Horizon Series’ inspired by her travels and personal experiences, reflecting exclusive designs and exceeding our expectations.”
“Initial feedback on Catherine’s designs have been so favorable that we’ve asked her to create several additional pieces, including chandeliers, that we plan to debut during the April High Point Market.”
