WAC Lighting Co-Founder Tai Wang was honored with the Asian American Visionary Award from the International Leadership Foundation at its annual gala in Washington last month.
WAC Lighting, a manufacturer and designer of lighting fixtures, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
Wang received the award for her many successes in civic involvement, international trade and entrepreneurial activities. She was the former honor chair for the ILF New York Professional Group and currently serves as the professional group advisor. Wang is responsible for building awareness for the program and helping Asian Americans learn about public service to build a better future for themselves and the country.
Two years ago, Wang received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, Rotary International's Humanitarian Award, and was honored for her philanthropic efforts and dedicated service to Alliance For Smiles, an international organization that provides reconstructive surgery and other healthcare to underprivileged children suffering from cleft lip and palate anomalies. She has spearheaded WAC's efforts to sponsor the Gift of Life Inc., a program designed to save children who are born with heart defects, from all over the world. Mrs. Wang has helped sponsor the Long Island City, NY-based LaGuardia Community College Foundation. In addition, she and her husband, Tony, founded the Hope School at Jiang Xi Province and WAC Scholarship Program in China.
