Dallas set to debut lighting expansion

Manufacturers to receive custom Lucchese cowboy boots

-- Home Accents Today, 1/16/2007 7:05:00 AM

Lighting manufacturers at the Dallas Market Center, will each receive a pair of custom, handmade Lucchese cowboy boots to commemorate the grand opening of the 500,000-sq.-ft. Trade Mart expansion on Thursday.

During the January lighting market, representatives from the Lucchese Boot Company, which has been making handmade boots since 1883, will be on hand to measure and fit individuals and to determine their choice of material, heel, and each component of a custom fitted pair of cowboy boots. The recipients will then receive a complete pair of boots in a few weeks.  Dallas Market Center anticipates delivering approximately 150 pairs of boots.

In addition to the boot fitting, special events open to all manufacturers and buyers will take place all week, including the 18th Annual ARTS Awards, Headlights on Dallas Giveaway, Designers in the House, and displays for the 50th Anniversary of Dallas Market Center.

“January lighting market will be Texas-sized and Texas-styled,” said Bill Winsor, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center. “We deeply appreciate the successful partnership we have with the lighting industry—manufacturers and showrooms from across the country. A pair of unique Texas cowboy boots is a small token of our esteem for the manufacturers.”

The Trade Mart expansion grand opening takes place at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday with a ribbon cutting breakfast to commemorate the largest expansion project since the original buildings on the Dallas Market Center campus were constructed. Dallas Mayor Laura Miller will be on hand to give remarks during the ceremony. The expansion doubles the existing lighting marketplace, giving Dallas more than 1 million square feet dedicated to the lighting industry. The kick-off continues that night with a Grand Opening party from 6-9 p.m. in The Grand Pavilion at the Trade Mart featuring music by all-female country and western group Lantana. Dallas Market Center will also give away a Harley Davidson FLSTC Softail Classic Motorcycle, worth more than $20,000, to one lucky lighting buyer as part of the Headlights on Dallas giveaway.

Showrooms will be open 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with participating showrooms offering extended hours until 8 p.m. Friday. Visit http://www.dallasmarketcenter.com/ for more market information.
