Votivo unveils limited edition Binary Candle
June 3, 2014,
Votivo and designer Benjamin Rollins Caldwell announced a limited edition collaboration, the Binary Candle.
The candle was inspired by Caldwell’s Binary furniture collection (BRC Designs), in which chair and table surfaces are completely covered with motherboards, computer chips, lcd screens and hard drive disks held in place by sheet metal screws. The furniture maintains an interactive quality with hard drive disks that can be spun, telephone keys and other buttons that can be pressed, and adjustable antennae.

The Binary Candle’s product packaging is covered in a handcrafted photo collage and incorporates colorful electrical wires instead of the hemp string used in Votivo’s traditional packaging. The candle’s multi-layered scent features the following notes: Top – metallic accords, bergamot; middle – jasmine, lavender, basil, clove, eucalyptus; base – sandalwood, patchouli.
All aspects of the Binary Candle are natural and recyclable, from the soy blend wax to the 100% post- consumer fiber board package to the candle glass that is made in the USA and is recyclable.
Benjamin Rollins Caldwell previously served as South Carolina-based Votivo’s brand manager and designer before opening his design studio, BRC Designs.
