Phyllis Keller of  Vignettes is Chicago Market's Retailer of the Month

The Chicago Market: Living and Giving announced its August 2010 Retailer of the Month honoree, Phyllis Keller of Vignettes in Yorkville, Illinois.

The ROTM program is designed to acknowledge exceptional retailers who are making a difference in the gift industry, as well as provide inspiration to other retailers who can benefit from the winners' stories.

Keller began her career managing a floral shop and eventually moved into gifts. A trip to Europe inspired her to open her own store. "The gift industry in Europe was more hands-on and a fuller experience," she said. "They would lure you in with beautiful flowers and delicious smells on the outside and then create an inviting environment inside. The stores were very hands-on, with music playing, things to touch and smell; it was the kind of sensory overload that we strive for today in our store."

Keller recently expanded to a new store three times the size of her previous location. She has made a name for herself in the community, thanks to her one-of-a-kind store and the many events she holds each year. With classes in floral arranging, decorating for the holidays, and fundraisers for different social causes, Vignettes has become a local mainstay and a destination spot for those who love unique gifts in a warm environment.
