Capitol Lighting announces winners of online jingle contest

Susan Dickenson -- Home Accents Today, 9/21/2010 10:39:43 AM

Boca Raton, Fla. - Retailer Capitol Lighting announced the winners of its online jingle contest, Patrick Channing and Michelle Wood of Port St. Lucie, Fla. Channing and Wood's jingle, "It's So Exciting, It's Capitol Lighting," edged out Kim Williams of Plano, Texas and her entry "Illuminate MCapitol Lighting, winners of jingle conteste." The grand prize winners will receive $2,500 and Williams will take home $1,000.

Angela Baughman of Pittsburgh, Pa. won a $750 shopping spree for the "Most Clever" video submission, "Don't Get Left in the Dark." Also, one online voter, Kimberly Wouters of Portland, Ore. was randomly selected as the winner of a $500 cash prize from the thousands who voted.

Videos of the three entries can be seen at www.1800lighting.com/jingle/showall.

Capitol Lighting has eight stores in New Jersey and Florida. Contestants submitted videos of their jingles, which conveyed why someone should shop in-store or online for lighting at Capitol Lighting.

Eric Lebersfeld, president, said the jingles were ranked by originality, quality, creativity, realism, excitement, consistency with and promotion of the brand. "Not only were we delighted with the quality of the entries but also the level and scope of participation of those who voted," Lebersfeld said. "We had entries and voters from around the nation indicating the reach of our recently redesigned website www.1800lighting.com. Patrick, Michelle and Kim really captured the essence of Capitol Lighting. The entire Capitol Lighting family congratulates them on a job well done."

Family-owned Capitol Lighting began in 1924 when Max Lebersfeld, an electrical contractor and immigrant from Austria-Hungary, opened a light fixture store in Newark, N.J. Four generations later, Capitol has expanded to four locations in New Jersey, four in southeast Florida and worldwide online at 1-800Lighting.com. The readers of NJ Monthly Magazine recently voted Capitol Lighting as the "Best of New Jersey 2010" for "Where to Shop for Lighting".
