Los Angeles — Scandia Home is opening its first freestanding boutique in Beverly Hills this month. The 1,500-sq.-ft. boutique at 332 North Beverly Dr. showcases Scandia Home's collections of down, fine linens, bath products and designer headboards, and has an interactive designer studio for both the trade and consumers. A "Down Den" features an installation of backlit walls of down and a display of European goose down weights and samples. "We wanted to create a place where both a customer and seasoned decorator would be equally inspired," said Tyler Heiden Jones, general manager. "The boutique will be a place for them to find solutions to their bedding and decorating needs. The staff has been extensively trained to answer the questions of the most discerning consumers."

Seattle — John and Frances Smersh moved their store, Click! Design That Fits, to a new location in West Seattle Junction. The business opened in 2004 and carries contemporary home furnishings, jewelry and personal accessories. The new address is 4540 California Ave. SW.

Richmond, Va. — The French Boutique, a new gift shop, home accents and clothing store owned by Kim French, opened at West Broad Village in Short Pump.

Memphis, Tenn. — Millennium Home Furnishings & Interiors opened a 12,000-sq.-ft. showroom in the Forest Hill Crossing Shopping Center. Owners are Eric Triche and Robert Bowden. The new store includes a design center and furniture showroom featuring lines by Habersham and Maitland-Smith. The location replaces Millennium's former 4,500- sq.-ft. store at The Avenue Carriage Crossing in Collierville. The retailer also has a 5,500-sq.-ft. Collierville location at 3670 Houston Levee Rd.

Longview, Wash. — Robyn Mertes and Colleen Doran opened a new Real Deals Home Decor store at 1140 Vandercook Way. The store adheres to the franchise's practice of opening just two days a week (Thursdays and Saturdays) and carries home decor, mirrors, clocks, wall decor, accent furniture, seasonal decor, florals and candles. Real Deals Home Decor got its start in 2004 in Twin Falls, Idaho. The business has grown to 72 franchises in 18 states.

Las Vegas — Designers R. Craig Dye and Donna Johnson, formerly of RDZine, opened Postcards Home in the Las Vegas Design Center, Suite A-119, at World Market Center. The showroom carries home accents, lighting, wall treatments, fabrics, upholstery, case goods, tabletop, wall decor and bedding. According to Postcards Home's website, featured brands include Visual Comfort, Wood- Mode, Paul Robert, The French Bee, Theresa Seidel and Realm of Design.

Des Moines, Iowa — Room to Room Home Furnishings opened at 3030 100th St. in Urbandale, featuring furniture from U.S. manufacturers. Across the street, Patrick Mitchell opened Got-A Have It at 3233 100th St., featuring traditional furniture, home decor and whimsical accessories. Mitchell relocated his design studio to Urbandale from a location in Windsor Heights.

Hudson Valley, N.Y. — Ned Kelly and Company, a popular home and garden shop on Piermont Avenue in Rockland, doubled its space earlier this year.

Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. — Megan David, a former buyer for ABC Carpet & Home and Ochre NY, opened Wake Robin in mid-October at 1207 Pleasantville Rd. The shop carries furniture, tabletop, jewelry, fragrance, lighting and textiles such as John Derian's Belgian linen covered frames made by Cisco Brothers, seating and case goods from Canvas, Indian block print bedding, vintage and refashioned accessories, and local handmade earthenware. Wake Robin also offers interior design services.

Murfreesboro, Tenn. — Parmida Home is opening a 9,400-sq.-ft. location in Stones River Mall in early 2011. The store will feature home furnishings, accessories, rugs, outdoor furniture, candles, gifts, gourmet foods and several furniture brands unique to Parmida.

Abingdon, Va. — Magnolia opened earlier this year at 792 Baugh Lane in Abingdon. Owned by mother and daughter Jessica Durham and Lori Noonkester, Magnolia carries home furnishings, lighting, books, gifts, and original artwork from local artists.

Seattle — Henry and Frances Home opened at 1135 34th Ave. Owner Kate Sehulster has a background in interior design, textiles and wall coverings. The shop carries new furniture and consignment pieces, lighting, candles, books and the work of local designers and artists.

New York — Home Textiles Today reported in October that Lord & Taylor re-entered the home furnishings business with a 21,000-sq.-ft. presentation on the ninth floor of its flagship store on Fifth Avenue. The floor is dominated by offerings from the Lauren Ralph Lauren home program and the Calvin Klein Collection, Studio and White label offerings. Lauren Ralph Lauren has 45% of the total floor space while Calvin Klein has 30%. Lord & Taylor's re-entry into the home arena comes after an absence of 23 years.

Auburn Hills, Mich. — Art Van Furniture opened its first showroom in a shopping mall last month. The 50-year-old retail chain debuted a new 43,000- sq.-ft. store at Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills, bringing the total number of Art Van stores to 34 state-wide. Along with furniture, the new store houses an Art Van Pure Sleep mattress aisle, electronics with Paul's TV, a Scott Shuptrine Interiors design studio and Art Van Clearance Center. Dallas - Catalog retailer Wisteria opened Wisteria Outlet, a new 20,000-sq.-ft. store at 6500 Cedar Springs Road, in November. The garden, home furnishings and gift catalog was founded in 2001 by Dallas couple Shannon and Andrew Newsom.

Scarborough, Maine — Home Accents moved to a new location, at 264 U.S. Rt. 1 in Bessey Square. The grand opening was held Nov. 30. The store has been in business since 2003.
