February 21, 2017,
Rowland, an artist who has offered exclusive artwork for Picture Source Somerset, has been part of the company’s art team since April 2016, a post that help define the direction and artistic vision for the company. In her new post, she will report to Julia Marks, Picture Source Somerset’s chief visionary officer.
Marks said Picture Source Somerset’s team approach allows many members of the organization to have a valued voice in the artistic process which makes the role of creative director an even more important one.
In addition to providing overall creative direction, Rowland will oversee the company’s in-house studio artists to create new and on-trend artwork; to research industry trends and incorporate those findings into the company’s product line; work with the design team to streamline the art selection process and creative thinking for framing presentations; to source new art and artists to add to the company’s growing exclusive collections; and, to work with interior design clients that may need special creative support for specialty or custom pieces.
Rowland, who is based in Asheville, N.C., will work closely with clients on large-scale creative projects to provide exclusive artwork or to create customized artwork. She will also work with the company’s account representatives and customers during markets and tradeshows throughout the year.
“Picture Source Somerset has a very strong Seattle-based design team in place,” Rowland said. “It is my goal to work within that team to keep Picture Source Somerset at the forefront of the industry, to keep our finger on the pulse of current design trends and to ensure that we are the source for relevant, on-trend and compelling works of art.”
With Picture Source’s recent acquisition of Somerset Studios, a North Carolina-based art wholesale supplier, Rowland will “guide a wonderfully talented group of exclusive artists to integrate the design perspective of the unified companies into an exciting new line of original paintings that will be offered by Picture Source Somerset.”
