Wayfair launches 3-D model library on SketchUp
March 13, 2017,
Wayfair’s 3-D model library is now available on SketchUp, modeling software for architects, engineers, design and construction professionals and members of the global maker community.
As an initial test, the online home furnishings retailer is releasing about 1,000 models to SketchUp's 3-D Warehouse, delivering a broad selection to designers so they can accurately visualize the furniture and décor products specified in their designs.
Wayfair's 3-D model library is among the company’s ongoing innovations in photographic rendering and augmented and virtual reality.
The WayfairView AR app lets customers visualize 3-D furniture and décor in any space at full-scale using a Tango-enabled device. IdeaSpace lets customers explore a variety of spaces and shop their favorite selections via Daydream, Google's mobile VR platform. SketchUp is yet another platform where the trade community can leverage Wayfair's 3-D content library.
"With the largest library of 3-D product models of furniture and décor of any retailer, we are thrilled to partner with SketchUp to provide the design community with a valuable resource that will help bring their creative visions – and those of their clients – to life," Conine said.
