LOGAN, Utah — Phylum Design, founded by artist Owen Mortensen, will debut its line of botanical-themed wall décor at the High Point Market this fall. The company will host lunch parties, featuring locally produced foods, daily at its showroom in Suites at Market Square, Salon, G-7057 from noon to 3 p.m.
"What better time to debut a line of wall décor inspired by the simple beauty of nature than autumn - when leaves are changing color and the magic of the harvest is upon us," Mortensen said.
Mortensen has been creating botanical art since 1999. His award-winning designs have been featured on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," and he was listed in American Style Magazine as one of 10 top artists/designer to watch.
Most of the pieces to be debuted are made from actual botanical specimens such as leaves, bark, seed-pods and bamboo, artistically arranged in shadow box frames. Mortensen has also designed a set of twelve botanical prints patterned after antiqued botanical pressings widely seen.
Mortensen founded Phylum Design, an art-consulting company representing a number of artists, which produces environmentally themed art, furniture and accessories. According to a press release from Phylum Design, the company considers its work as representative of the "Organic Modernism" fine art and design movement.
