Tie Dye sofa commemorates Summer of Love

Los Angeles-based furniture brand Apt2B celebrated this week's summer solstice by introducing a limited edition tie-dye sofa, the Ashbury, to commemorate the 50thTie dye sofa anniversary of the Summer of Love.

The sofas are built to order in Apt2B's Los Angeles factory, retail for $1,588 and, according to company co-founder Mat Herman, no two Ashburys are the same.

Herman, who says he has an unabashed love for tie dye will be taking the sofa on the road for a Summer of Love hippie tour along the California coast.

“I grew up in the ‘80s and my mom would take me to the big summer festivals and sold tie dye merch to all the concert goers," Herman said. "A tie dye sofa is something I’ve always wanted to do. Why should we just be wearing the latest trend, we should be sitting on it too.”
