NEXT Retail Conference offers attendees foundation for the futureProgressive Business Media (PBM) announced the recipients of the 2017 Impact Awards launching at this year’s NEXT Conference September 25-27, 2017 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

PBM’s Impact Awards will highlight one Mentorship Award; as previously publicized this will be awarded to Kerry Lebensburger at Ashley Furniture, and three retailers will receive the Innovator Award. The NEXT Conference focuses on the education, networking and actionable ideas that will impact the next wave of home furnishing leaders and early adopters. The awards ceremony is sponsored by Malouf.

PBM is pleased to honor individuals who have truly impacted the lives of people in their communities. “It is crucial to recognize those who have made a difference in the home furnishings industry and their communities,” said Matt Slaine, CEO of Progressive Business Media. “Our industry is full of innovative, passionate leaders with a drive to succeed in all that they do.”

At the 2017 Impact Award ceremony we will be honoring Broad River Retail, Gallery Furniture and Obelisk Home. These retailers have not only set new standards for their business, but also make a significant impact in their local community.

“Obelisk Home is a 2017 Home Accents Today Retail Star that provides product donations to not-for-profit organizations and events that support equal rights, safe housing and disadvantaged care, as well as the welfare, care and rescue of animals,”said Thomas Lester, business editor, Home Accents Today.

“Broad River has consistently demonstrated a commitment to professional excellence across all aspects of its business operations. The company has also been at the forefront of the furniture industry in enhancing the lives of the people of its communities. With programs such as its Tunnels to Towers initiative and its generous support of Beds for Kids, Broad River has shown that doing the right thing and doing the profitable thing can go hand in hand,” said Bill McLoughlin, editor in chief, Furniture Today.

Clint Engel, senior retail editor, Furniture Today, said “From its early move into e-commerce to the opening of a furniture factory in its flagship store, Gallery Furniture, under Jim McIngvale’s leadership, has been pushing the innovation envelope for years. The retailer’s community outreach has been just as ambitious, with the McIngvale family and Gallery giving to causes close to home, from providing homes full of furniture to needy families at Christmas time to jobs for adults with disabilities living at Houston’s non-profit Brookwood Community.”

“We are thrilled to kick-off the newly established Impact Awards at our 2017 NEXT Conference in Washington, D.C.,” said Catherine Silver, publisher, Furniture Today. “Our industry is filled innovators who will be shaping the future of the home furnishings industry. Progressive Business Media cares about this industry and about making an impact in our communities. We are proud to recognize the companies and individuals in this industry who are doing the same.”

The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, September 26 th from 5:30 to 6:00 pm in the Norfolk Southern Club at Nationals Park. For more information on the event visit pbmnext.com.
