CURREY & COMPANY introduced the launch collection of interior designer Marjorie Skouras. Skouras, who has her own high-end home collection, has translated her signature glamorous, color-saturated style into an initial 50-piece offering at a lower price point.
"Currey & Company did a brilliant job of realizing the collection - we really wanted to bring them into this world of color and old Hollywood glamour," Skouras said. "We wanted to give them that ‘wow' factor using classically inspired shapes, which is what we do using wonderful materials and colors."
The new collection references certain pieces in Skouras' luxury line - such as classic Empire chandeliers strung in semiprecious stones of jade, quartz and turquoise - refashioned in polished glass, but also introduces a plethora of new designs inspired by the South of France during the 1940s.
A mermaid's tail is translated as the Antibes table lamp in white or black lacquer with parchment shade. The Mombo series of abstract, reverse-painted glass includes mirrors, sconces, lamps and bunching tables in fuchsia, orange, emerald and sky blue. Additionally, an elegant group of side tables marries gold and silver leaf with stunning shell-inlaid tops, such as abalone and pen shell.
"This collaboration is born from a love for unusual design and oddities like taxidermy, faux bois and seashells," said Cecil Adams, creative director of Currey & Company. "Marjorie Skouras represents not only a new collection with an international point of view, it also brings Currey & Company even further into the forefront of what is happening in interior design today."
Retail prices for the collection range from $470 to $5,500.
