Moe’s Home adds Canadian distribution center

Vancouver, Canada-based Moe’s Home Collection is opening a new 70,000-sq.-ft. distribution center this month in Delta, British Columbia, approximately 40 miles northeast of its flagship and corporate office.

The Delta facility will serve as a distribution hub for the company’s Canadian customers and help free up space in Moe’s 100,000+ square foot Seattle distribution center, necessary to accommodate its growing North American footprint.

“We had considered expanding the facility in Seattle but decided instead to open one in Canada,” Moe’s Retail Manager Sara Samieian told Home Accents Today. “Our Canadian customers will be able to ship from there, they won’t have to deal with any cross border (regulations) or duties, they can buy in Canadian dollars, and transit time will be much shorter.”

The Canadian distribution center will also service Moe’s flagship store in Vancouver, and two Canadian licensee stores in Victoria and Coquitlam, B.C. Moe's retail licensing partners, a new and growing sales channel for the company, include a store that opened late June of this year in South Dakota.

On the wholesale side, which comprises about 70% of the company’s business, Moe’s Home Collection supplies more than 1,000 furniture stores across the U.S. andMoe's Vancouver Canada. Earlier this month, Moe's was voted "Best Furniture Store" (independent) in Vancouver by readers of The Georgia Straight, Vancouver's 50-year-old lifestyle weekly.
