Oceanside set as Sherwin-Williams’ 2018 Color of the Year
October 3, 2017,
Oceanside is Sherwin-Williams' 2018 Color of the Year.
The Cleveland-based paint and color company said the opulent and mysterious green-blue hue is inspired by wanderlust.
Drawn from the Unity palette, one of three palettes in Colormix 2018: Sherwin-Williams Color Forecast , Sherwin-Williams says Oceanside’s versatile nature makes it the perfect bright counterpart to neon pinks and a natural complementary tone to sandy beiges and desert taupes.
Sherwin-Williams says Oceanside’s multi-dimensional look could create a welcoming statement as a lively color for a front door. It says the green-meets-blue tone can also boost creative thinking and clarity of thought in a home office or invite meditation and introspection in bedrooms or reading nooks.
“People today have a growing sense of adventure and it is making its way into even the coziest corners of our homes,” Wadden said. “We are craving things that remind us of bright folklore like mermaids and expeditions across continents. Oceanside is the color of wanderlust right into our own homes.”
The company says the color is an ideal companion for corals and metallic copper tones and it is universally embraced by design styles from Mid-Century Modern to Mediterranean and traditional to ultra-contemporary.
