Americasmart names winners of rug awards

The Georgia Aquarium played host to the America's Magnificent Carpets Awards last month.
The event is held each January during the Atlanta International Area Rug Market featuring the National Oriental Rug Show. The National Oriental Rug Show is staged in an exclusive partnership with the Oriental Rug Importers Association.
The area rug winners, selected by an independent panel, were announced and presented by Americasmart.
The 2012 AMCA winners are:

Handmade (prices per square foot):
■ $0-$8: Harounian Rugs Intl.
■ $8.01-$16: Jaipur Rugs
■ $16.01+: Tibet

Hand-knotted (prices per square foot):
■ $0-$30: F.J. Kashanian
■ $30.01-$50: AMER
■ $50.01-$100: French Accents
■ $100.01+: Creative Touch

Power-loomed (prices per 5x8 rug):
■ $0-$100: KAS Rugs
■ $100.01-$200: Oriental Weavers
■ $200.01-$400: Dynamic Rugs
■ $400-$800: Momeni
■ $800.01+: Michaelian + Kohlberg
