John Labarowski launching occasional, accent source LaurelHouse

VALDESE, N.C. - Industry veteran John Labarowski is launching an occasional and accent source named LaurelHouse at the April High Point Market.

The company will focus on better goods and materials to differentiate it from lower-end suppliers, said Labarowski, a former Hammary Furniture president who is president and CEO of the new venture.

"The name of the game would be to have a quality product, offer good delivery, with industry professionals that understand the business," he said.

Retail pricing on occasional tables will range from $399 to $999, he said. The line will consist of 25 table groups and 50 accent items in casual contemporary, transitional and relaxed traditional styles.

LaurelHouse will show in High Point's International Home Furnishings Center, G-782, at the spring market April 21-26.

Labarowski retired as Hammary president in 2010 as the La-Z-Boy division was consolidated into sister companies American Drew and Lea. He said he is working with some former Hammary colleagues in the LaurelHouse.

Product will be designed in America and the Philippines and produced in India, Vietnam, Indonesia, China, the Philippines and Mexico, the company said.

Pieces will feature relaxed finishes and materials combinations including iron and wood, stainless steel and wood and nickel plating. Accents also will blend indigenous materials from the Philippines and India on chests, accent tables, entertainment consoles and trunks. The line will include vintage looks with rustic finishes.

The line will mix well with better-priced upholstery, the company said.

The company is targeting better department stores, furniture stores and esigners. Product will be shipped from a 50,000-square-foot warehouse and office space in Valdese.
