Safavieh to unveil expanded outdoor collections in Atlanta, Vegas

Safavieh’s new Four Seasons outdoor rug collection includes chintz, ikat motifs, suzanis and abstract florals.PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. -- Area rug, accent furniture and home accessories manufacturer Safavieh will present a major cross-category expansion in outdoor rug offerings at the Atlanta International Rug Market and will introduce patio sets and outdoor accent pillows at Las Vegas Market.
The company is adding 20 new designs to its flagship Courtyard collection of outdoor rugs, and will launch the Beach House, Four Seasons and Veranda collections at the Safavieh showroom in AmericasMart, Space 5-A-2.
"We have tracked continued steady growth with our outdoor rugs throughout the recession, and are projecting even greater consumer demand in 2013," said Arash Yaraghi, Safavieh principal. "Our expansion into new constructions and designs is based on consumer focus groups, input from our retailers and feedback from focused social media programs in the past six months.
"The results are consistent: consumers want fashion patterns and colors in outdoor rugs so they can use them indoors and outside the home from front porch to poolside. Mothers of young children tell us they prefer outdoor rugs under kitchen and dining room tables for easy clean up. People are using our Courtyard rugs in gazebos, in an extra bedroom that's set aside for a pet, in seating arrangements The new Beach House outdoor rug collection from Safavieh has patterns from Oushak to Peshawar and Sumack motifs.in front of outdoor fireplaces - social media has really opened our ideas to how our customers actually live," he said.
Safavieh's Four Seasons collection is hand-hooked with large loops creating painterly floral motifs from traditional chintz designs in soft colors to Suzani patterns highlighted with fashion's neon bright tones. Four Seasons, which debuts in Atlanta in a collection of 30 patterns, is made in Turkey of enhanced polypropylene and retails for $320 for 5X8 size.
The new Beach House collection will be launched with 12 traditional oriental carpet designs for consumers who want to extend the look from their living room to the patio, or for use in kitchens, family rooms and bedrooms. Patterns range from Oushak to Peshawar and Sumack motifs, all in enhanced polypropylene in a four-color antiqued version of Safavieh's flagship three-color Courtyard collection. Made in Turkey, Beach House rugs are finished for a muted washed-out look, and retail at $320 in the 5X8 size.
Another next-generation version of the original sisal-look Courtyard collection, the Veranda collection features a large loop and soft hand more like that of indoor carpets. Safavieh's Veranda collection includes 15 transitional and contemporary patterns and bold, bright florals. It is made in Egypt of enhanced polypropylene and retails at $320 in the 5X8 size.

For its first outdoor pillows, Safavieh will introduce a solid color program with a palette based on seven best-selling outdoor cushion colors. The fiber-fill pillows are covered in a weather-resistant, UV-protected polyester fabric that simulates linen. The suggested retail price is $255 for a set of two.
Safavieh's furniture division is launching several patio sets at Las Vegas Market at showroom A101 in the Las Vegas Design Center. Sets of a loveseat, two chairs and a coffee table in wicker have suggested retail prices from $1,200, and sets of four outdoor chairs in fiberglass and polypropylene retail from $774 in fashion colors or white.
