Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair set for October in New Delhi

NEW DELHI, India -- Organizers of the 34th Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair are gearing up for the fall event, set for Oct. 15-18 at the India Expo Centre & Mart in New Delhi.

With products ranging from gifts and decorative accessories to furniture, flooring, jewelry and cookware, the event taps into the vast manufacturing capabilities of India producers.

Billed as a "one-stop sourcing event," it will feature goods produced by some 2,500 manufacturers from around India.

Officials could not say how many of the 2,500 exhibitors make furniture. They did note that the show will include a mix of both indoor and outdoor residential furniture.

Organizers say the strength of the show lies largely in the ability of manufacturers to utilize India's abundance of skilled workers and designers in addition to its variety of raw materials such as wood, metal, leather, natural and artificial fibers, wool, silk, jute, animal bones and stones.
Other product categories to be featured at the show include kitchenware, tableware, clothing and bath products.

The 33rd edition of the show was held in February and attracted some 4,325 foreign buyers, organizers said.
