Salon at Market Square & Suites expanding

HIGH POINT -- Salon at Suites at Market Square, a juried showcase of innovative higher-end home furnishings launched in April 2010, will expand for the upcoming High Point Market, October 13-18.

"For the last few markets we have had a waiting list of companies that fit the profile for Salon, but we did not have enough space to accommodate all of them," said Julie Messner, vice president of leasing for International Market Centers. "Clearly the demand was greater than our supply, so we have decided to expand Salon to feature more companies."

The Salon expansion will be on the Mezzanine floor, one floor above the existing Salon display on the Ground floor, and will add 8,000 square feet to the collection for a total of 33,000 square feet of exhibit space. A total of 44 companies offering furniture, lighting, rugs, wall art, home textiles and decorative accessories showed in Salon prior to the expansion.

The Salon expansion area is most easily accessed by the escalator in the center of Salon.

"We had been approached by many companies that wanted to show in High Point but felt Salon was the best fit for them, and with this expansion we will have the ability to add more of these unique, higher-end companies for buyers to see when they arrive at the October Market," Messner said.

Salon also houses the Market Square Café, which is the only place in downtown High Point offering a full Starbucks hot drink menu as well as a variety of breakfast and lunch items.
