Artist Sean Kenney introduces lamps made from LEGO Bricks

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Brooklyn-based artist Sean Kenney unveiled a line of classically-inspired lamps, each created by hand in his New York City studio and fashioned from LEGO bricks. Sean Kenney Lamp of LEGO bricks

Featuring five styles in a variety of colors, each lamp comprises approximately 2,500 LEGO bricks, glued together and built around a metal frame to ensure rigidity, and weighted with a steel base. Each lamp can accommodate up to a 40-watt bulb (energy-efficient compact fluorescent or LED bulbs are recommended) and each features a flat fabric shade.

"As someone who loves interior design, decor and architectural flourishes, I've always wanted to create something functional for the home, weaving together my personal design aesthetic and the LEGO brick - my choice of artistic medium," Kenney. "These lamps are the result: clean, simple, and modern, and sure to catch the eye in whatever room they're in."

For more than 30 years, Kenney has turned LEGO bricks into contemporary sculpture, corporate commissions, and personalized gifts for people around the world. Based in New York City, Ken has created pieces for television, celebrities, tourist attractions, galleries, museums, and companies like Google, Mazda, Nintendo, JP Morgan Chase, and Samsung. He is also a bestselling author, with a complete line of picturebook building guides for children, including his latest, Amazing ABC, and runs MOCpages.com, the worldʼs largest LEGO fan community. In 2005, Sean became the first of only 13 LEGO Certified Professionals worldwide, officially recognized by the LEGO Group as a trusted business partner.
