DALLAS -- Area rugs manufacturer Loloi Rugs is sending some relief to the East Coast following the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. Nov. 12-16, Loloi will donate a percentage of all sales to the American Red Cross to assist with the East Coast cleanup efforts.
"The East Coast was ripped apart by Hurricane Sandy," CEO Amir Loloi said. "And we want to help. By donating a percentage of our sales to the American Red Cross, we feel like we're putting money in the hands of those best suited to help New York, New Jersey and the other affected areas recover and rebuild."
The American Red Cross works with government agencies, local emergency managers and community agencies to determine where resources are most needed.
Within the first week of the American Red Cross' Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, it had already distributed 481,000 meals and snacks and 33,000 relief items such as hygiene kits to victims of the storm. All 323 of the agency's emergency response vehicles were deployed to the area. As the temperatures in the Tristate area continue to plummet, the American Red Cross is distributing upward of 80,000 blankets.
