Design Legacy acquires High Point showroom building

Design Legacy has acquired a High Point Market showroom building, 126 Virginia Place, where it will operate its showroom beginning this month during the fall market.
     The 8,000-sq.-ft. showroom was acquired in response to the steady demand for Design Legacy by Kelly O'Neal's growing furniture and accessories line, according to a press release from founder Kelly O'Neal and partner Rene Gutierrez. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place Friday, Oct. 12, at 9 a.m. Guests of honor include Heather Clawson, founder and editor of Habitually Chic, and designer Nancy Price.
     Design Legacy's home furnishings line is a result of the items O'Neal began manufacturing for his own retail store, Legacy Trading Co., which operated in Dallas and Fort Worth for close to 20 years. "Now focused fully on the needs of other retailers, O'Neal has an innate sense of what appeals to both large and small outfits. His love of natural elements and antiques is a trademark in his home furnishings collection. O'Neal's world-class antique print collection is the library from which his pillow, wall art and textile collections are born," the press release stated. Design Legacy's goods are sold in more than 4,000 specialty stores worldwide.
     "Securing a permanent home for our collection has enabled us to spread our wings, see our collections evolve and grow to remain a leader in innovative, exciting design within the industry," O'Neal said. "We felt in doing so, we could also maintain a more ‘private' or exclusive collection of stores better equipped to show the line in a more comprehensive manner."
     Design Legacy will continue to have a showroom in the C&D building. Each showroom will feature a different collection.
