Home Accents Today Staff -- Home Accents Today, 1/12/2013 11:43:04 AM

Industry veteran Greg Johnston has joined accent furniture source Furniture Classics Ltd. as vice president of sales.

Johnston most recently served as vice president of sales for Stein World, and was previously general manager for Classic Design. He has also held sales management posts with Hamilton & Spill, Jackson Furniture, Morgan Stewart/Dunmore, Progressive Furniture and Ashley.

At Furniture Classics, Johnston will be responsible for managing all the company's national and international sales efforts. He also will direct Furniture Classics' team of independent sales representatives, which is in the process of being expanded from 23 to 40 reps to strengthen the company's presence in the West and other key markets, according to a press release.

Johnston will be based in Hickory, N.C., and will report to President Michael Ricks.

"Greg is an established and effective sales leader with excellent communication skills and a proven record of sales success," Ricks said. "He has a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with retailers large and small across all distribution channels, providing them with products and ideas that help them reach new customers and grow their business."

"I am very excited to be joining Furniture Classics as it prepares for a new wave of growth," Johnston said. "This is a respected, well-managed company, with first-rate quality and service and high-value products that are designed and priced to retail."

Furniture Classics specializes in solid-wood reproductions in styles that range from traditional English and country French to transitional and industrial/contemporary. The company's diverse line includes bookcases, cabinets, chests, desks, dining and kitchen items, media and TV stands, seating, occasional tables and wine storage.

In addition, Furniture Classics' Two Palms Casual division offers a full line of casual furniture for indoor and outdoor use. The line includes seating and tables in materials such as premium resin wicker, woven seagrass and pole rattan, natural rattan and solid mahogany, and reclaimed teak.

Furniture Classics operates a 200,000-sq.-ft. warehouse at its headquarters in Norfolk, Va., with an in-stock position on "nearly all of our line," Ricks said. The company has showrooms in High Point, Las Vegas, Atlanta and at its Virginia office.
