A chocolate-and-ivory colored, contemporary-style dhurrie rug by Safavieh was featured this week on NBC's Today Show as part of its "Today's Home" segment.
Titled "His and her décor: A stylish home for both sexes," the four-minute report - which aired before 9 a.m. on Jan. 22 - featured iVillage contributor Susanna Salk showing Today Show host Savannah Guthrie several products that offer "compromise" in home décor for couples. Among them: Safavieh's DHU553C flat-woven wool rug from India, which is currently available within the Woven Wonders sale for $249 at One Kings Lane.
"I love this because this is a very masculine [rug] - the brown and cream, and the pattern is very graphic," Salk said. "But if you mixed in some gold or some yellow on the she-world sort of things, you can get a kind of glam [look]. So it [about] starting with a foundation and adding in other elements."
Cyrus Yaraghi, Safavieh principal, later commented that his company has "never thought about designing rugs that would result in happier homes by solving decorating disputes. But this specific rug has done very well since it was introduced, and it could be as the Today Show hosts explain, ‘it would work equally well in a man cave and a family room.'"
Also featured in the segment was a paisley-style duvet and sham collection in honey, tangerine and gray tones from Cost Plus World Market, and two faux-satin rectangular decorative pillows - in charcoal and olive - from HomeGoods.
