Michael Berman opens Bronze Studio flagship showroom
Los Angeles - Designer Michael Berman has launched a new brand and flagship showroom called Bronze Studio, located at 7257 Beverly Blvd. No. 100.
The showroom features Berman's new Bronze Studio line of furniture, lighting, wall décor and accessories. According to a press release, the collection pays homage "to classic lines and ideas while imbuing them with a touch of approachable glamour. Bronze Studio offers dazzling pieces with opulent touches and a dash of modernity - adapting archetypal forms for a bold, statement-making impact."
I.O. Metro to open in Dallas
Dallas - Specialty lifestyle home furnishings retailer I.O. Metro has announced plans to open its 18th store, in late March in Dallas.
The newest addition to the I.O. Metro family of stores will be located at 4531 McKinney Ave., centrally located within the Knox-Henderson neighborhood. The opening marks the second store for the company in north Texas, following the December 2009 premiere in the Village at Fairview.
I.O. Metro provides customers with high quality furniture, art and accessories at an affordable price, a press release states. The company also provides complimentary in home design services.
"We couldn't be more excited to share our eclectic style and unique vision with the residents of Dallas," said Christine Howard, co-founder and creative director, I.O. Metro. "We are thrilled about the opportunity to assist our clients in discovering the potential of their homes, by creating beautifully designed spaces."
Blu Dot opens Australia store
Sydney - Home décor designer and manufacturer Blu Dot opened its first Australia retail store here in February, located at 69 O'Riordan Street in Alexandria, in a recently renovated addition to the Alexandria furniture district. Blu Dot Sydney showcases a comprehensive collection of the company's full line, with many smaller items stocked in-store for instant gratification.
This is Blu Dot's third retail location, following the opening of its New York store in Soho in 2008, and its Los Angeles store in 2011. The Minneapolis based design collective is recognized for its "inventive use of materials, playful sensibility and fabrication/assembly strategies determined by an economy of means," a press release states.
Bobby Berk Home announces expansion plans
New York - Modern furniture/lifestyle retailer Bobby Berk Home announced plans to open six new locations over the next 36 months, in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Palm Springs, Chicago, Portland and Austin. Owner Bobby Berk said in a press release he is also scouting locations to expand the brand internationally, particularly Panama, Mexico and Singapore.
"These six key cities are just the first of many to be announced as we embark on a major national expansion," Berk said. "We're very excited to build on the brand's continued success and promise to continue to bring quality modern furniture at accessible prices to these amazing communities. The new executive team I have assembled for this expansion includes pioneers in the industry who have helped launch brands such as Restoration Hardware, Williams Sonoma, Design Within Reach and more."
Bobby Berk Home currently has stores in New York, Atlanta and Miami. The company was profiled in the August 2012 issue of Home Accents Today.
Boston - Restoration Hardware opened a 40,000-sq.-ft. space here March 7 at 234 Berkeley St. in a 19th century building that once housed the New England Museum of Natural History. According to the Boston Business Journal, the store also includes a 118-seat restaurant.
Del Mar, Calif. - Interior designer Molly Proul, owner of MMP Design Solutions, will open a home décor store, MMP Home, this spring at 1228 Camino del Mar. According to the Del Mar Times, the store will carry a variety of home accessories, as well as its own furniture line to be produced in San Diego.
Mentor, Ohio - Ashley Furniture Homestore opened a 34,000-sq.-ft. store Feb. 15 at the Mentor Mall Shopping Center on Plaza Boulevard here. The retailer's home accents offerings include accent furniture, rugs, lamps and lighting, soft goods, wall décor and decorative accessories.
Normal, Ill. - Area rug retailer The Rug Rack will open its third store this month at 310 S. Towanda Ave. at The Shoppes at College Hills. The store carries wall art, pillows and other home accessories in addition to rugs, according to The Pantagraph newspaper. The Rug Rack also has stores in Springfield and Peoria.
Walnut Creek, Calif. - Home décor retailer Pier 1 Imports is moving to a new location here. The store left its former location at 2099 Mt. Diablo Blvd. in February and will reopen in a new space down the street at 1902 Mt. Diablo Blvd. in April.
Solana Beach, Calif. - Homegoods will open a new store here in the Lomas Santa Fe Plaza shopping center, the Carmel Valley News reports. The retail chain operates 374 stores and carries furniture, gifts, lighting, rugs, wall décor, bedding and decorative accessories.
New Orleans - Burkes Outlet opened a new 22,000-sq.-ft. store at Algiers Plaza here on Feb. 22. According to the Times- Picayune, the store will carry home furnishings and accessories in addition to apparel and footwear. The retail chain operates more than 160 stores in 11 states.
