Angela Flournoy picked up a cool $1,000 for her winning submission in Feizy Rugs' Design It Yourself contest.
Flournoy's winning design, a white rug with gray and steel blue contemporary tribal, bested all entries in the company's second annual contest. The Dallas-based company announced winners on Sept. 6.
"I've dreamed of designing textiles for quite some time," Flournoy said. "This amazing opportunity gave me the boost I needed to make my dream happen. Thanks, Feizy!"
Second place went to Sammie Hunt, who pocketed $500 for a honeycomb design that incorporated several shades of purple with some 3-D effects.
Third place and $250 went to Lindsey Webb, whose green rug design brings to mind lava lamps with its swirling and looping shapes.
Contestants were invited to submit a maximum of two entries per person via email. The top five entries being considered were then posted on the company's Facebook and Pinterest pages and fan votes were considered when choosing winners.
"We had a great time reviewing all of the entries," said Leah Feizy, executive vice president. "Our design team especially appreciated the contestants' fresh perspectives and design influences and we were all excited about the public participation and comments we received through our Facebook and Pinterest pages for the contest."
