Obituary: Designer Wicker founder Trifu Boronka

Trifu Boronka, founder of Designer Wicker & Rattan, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Lexington Medical Center in South Carolina, surrounded by his wife and family.
Boronka was born Aug. 12, 1949, in Malizam, Serbia. He opened Tribor International Trading, Inc., parent of Designer Wicker, along with His wife Stella, in 1985. In the early days of the business, he imported baskets and wicker furniture from Yugoslavia.
He later used his design and engineering skills to create his own furniture and accessories designs. Designer Wicker & Rattan manufactures in several Asian countries and imports into the United States, where they finish the product and produce cushions in Orangeburg, S.C. Colleagues credit Boronka's success with his eye for on-trend design, his work ethic and his partnership with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Stella; his brother, Petar Boronka; and five nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Boronka's honor to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
