ASFD presents 2004 Pinnacle Awards

The American Society of Furniture Designers presented the 2004 Pinnacle Awards at the ninth annual Pinnacle Design Achievement Awards ceremony at the High Point International Home Furnishings Center ballroom.
More than 300 guests attended the event. Sixty-one finalists in 16 categories were recognized. The Pinnacle statue was presented to one winner in each category.
Winners in the accessories category were Espresso/Black Coffee Styletrends Floor Clocks by Mike Warren and Shannon Lookabill for Warren Associates for Sligh Furniture Co. The judges commented the floor clocks had a "unique transitional design with a delightful blend of materials, scaled for today's interiors."
The Lighting Impressions Table Lamp by George Chandler for Hubbardton Forge was another accent winner. "Sophisticated contemporary form, suitable for casual environments; a fresh look at every angle," the judges said.
In the Occasional Tables category, the winner was Wainwright by Rick Schroeder for Stanley Furniture. "This stylish tufted cocktail ottoman design provides seating, storage and serving function at an exceptional value."
In the Major Collections category, National Geographic Home by Matthew Hurley, Dudley Moore, Jr. and Lesli Chastain, Otto & Moore for Lane Home Furnishings took home the award. "Extensive and diverse collection incorporating many design elements and materials. Reflects a world of influences" were comments from the judges.
