DMC, ART accepting nominations for 17th Annual ARTS Awards

Dallas Market Center and the Accessories Resource Team are accepting nominees for the 17th Annual ARTS Awards.
The ARTS Awards, presented each January during the Dallas International Gift and Home Accessories Market, is the premier awards program for the decorative accessories industry and recognizes excellence from retailers, manufacturers, sales representatives and designers in every region of the United States.
Industry professionals and retailers are invited to nominate decorative accessory manufacturers, product designers and sales representatives. Manufacturers, sales representatives and industry professionals are invited to nominate retailers. Neither membership in ART nor representation at DMC is necessary. The nomination deadline is June 30.
The organizers have added tabletop as a new manufacturer category. Products qualifying for the tabletop category include dinnerware, glass/crystal, flatware and table linens.
"Tabletop is an important industry full of creativity and innovative product that is receiving more attention than ever," said Cindy Morris, Dallas Market Center COO. "Adding this manufacturer category allows us to recognize the hardworking individuals who have helped elevate the industry."
The other Manufacturer categories are: Accent Furniture, Area Rugs, Decorative Accessories, Home Textiles, Lighting Fixtures, Permanent Floral, Portable Lamps and Wall Decor.
The Retailers categories are National Furniture Retailer and Regional Retailer, including Furniture Stores, Lighting Showrooms and Home Accent Specialty Stores.
The other categories are Product Designer, Sales Representative, Academy of Achievement and Rising Star.
The finalists are announced in August and next they must submit a detailed portfolio on their company, business philosophies and products. In November, industry expert judges convene in Dallas for two days to separately review each company's submission. Once judging is completed, a designated accounting firm will tabulate the sealed ballots
Winners will be announced Academy Awards-style at the next ARTS Awards gala in Dallas, Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, held in the Great Hall of the 2300 Building (formerly the International Apparel Mart).
