International Interiors to launch with ICFF in 2006

By Tracy Bulla -- Home Accents Today, 6/1/2005

The newest tradeshow highlighting home furnishings and accessories, International Interiors NY, is set to round out the current mix when it launches in 2006 during the newly established New York Design Week. Running May 20–23, IINY will complement the cutting-edge contemporary designs showcased at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair.

Located in a separate venue at the Passenger Ship Terminal, IINY is a joint venture between George Little Management and Reed Exhibitions. The vision for IINY is loosely inspired by the high-style, fully comprehensive presentation of Maison & Objet in Paris, a world-renowned design show, also organized by Reed Exhibitions.

"The opportunity is unparalleled," said Alan Steel, executive vice president of GLM, "New York is poised to be an international city of record." Like ICFF, the IINY will spotlight home furnishings of both high quality and high style, according to Steel. "We're taking this market and expanding it, not merging it."

"Over the last 17 years, ICFF has built a reputation as the show in North America for contemporary furnishings and design," said Phil Robinson, senior vice president of GLM. "The addition of IINY offers attendees access to a broader selection of high-end resources spanning the traditional to contemporary design spectrum."

Aimed at interior designers, architects, home furnishings buyers, retailers as well as contract/hospitality designers, IINY will offer an assortment of fine furnishings, lighting, rugs, flooring, wall coverings, accessories, kitchen and bath, tabletop and more.

Shuttle service will link the two shows between the Passenger Ship Terminal and the Javits Center (ICFF), with both shows honoring the other's badges. For more information, log on to www.internationalinteriorsnewyork.com.
