Fibreworks has expanded its Ernest Hemingway Collection with a line of custom-bordered area rugs in natural fibers.
The collection is customizable to suit a variety of tastes and decorating styles. Rugs are available in about 250 different styles and colors, and with about 250 distinct patterned borders to choose from.
Fibreworks uses natural fibers and materials, including wool, seagrass, sisal, jute, cotton, patchwork hides, linen and leather in the construction of its rugs. A variety of options, including woven tapestry, cotton twill, suede, leather and chenille, is available as borders for the rugs. Although every rug will be custom-made, orders are expected to be filled in seven to 10 days.
Materials and designs reflect the places Hemingway lived and traveled, specifically Africa; Cuba; Spain; Key West, Fla.; and his hometown of Oak Park, Ill. There are 26 collections in the line, including Lake Victoria, Havana, Walloon Lake, Madrid, Safari and Zanzibar.
The designs pay homage to Hemingway's larger-than-life persona. "We really wanted this collection to make a statement about the kind of man Ernest Hemingway was," said David Stickles, brand manager for the Ernest Hemingway Collection.
The rugs are also styled to complement the Ernest Hemingway Collection of home furnishings from Thomasville.
The rugs, which initially will be sold exclusively in Thomasville Furniture stores, will be offered in a variety of price ranges, depending on the design and materials. A 6×9 seagrass rug will retail for about $250. A 6×9 leather rug in a basketweave design will sell for about $2,210.
